MBA Program:
MBA Program is a regular program of Prime University designed according to the needs of the present time. MBA study gives opportunities to the students to understand overall management affairs of business economics as well as the environment needed for smooth functioning of business of contemporary time. It is believed that a person having MBA degree from Prime University shall find a smooth path of business world.
Objectives:
- To promote intellectual growth of the student in the relevant subject.
- To develop capacity of the student for efficient management of business of an organization in a dynamic manner.
- To develop research skills necessary to deal with various economic, social, moral and political problems.
- To enhance capabilities to create environment for developing corporate connection both at national and international level.
Length of the program:
Normally, a student is to complete 60 credit hours of study to earn and MBA degree over a period of six (06) semesters i.e. two (02) years. A student having BBA degree is to complete 36 credit hours study in three (03) semesters. In another instance the student may complete MBA degree n 48 credit hours coming from other discipline having two (02) years working experience at executive level.
Program structure and duration:
The academic year is divided into three (03) semesters, namely, Spring, Summer and Fall. The Spring semester begins from January and ends at April, the Summer semester begins at May and ends at August and the Fall semester begins at September and ends at December of any calendar year. One credit hour is equivalent to 15 hours of study. Each class consists of three (03) hours duration.
Admission requirements:
Prime University conducts MBA Regular and MBA Executive programs. For regular MBA program the student concerned is to study 60 credit hours, whereas for the executive MBA program the student concerned is to study either 48 credit hours or 36 credit hours.
Admission Requirements for 60 credit program:
Minimum graduation degree for recognized institution with minimum six (06) points (SSC to Degree level).
Course load:
The student concerned is to complete his/her core courses first. Normally a student is offered three / four courses in a semester. After completion of the core courses, the student is to select his/her area of concentration i.e. major courses. From any major area the student is to complete four (04) courses.
Admission Board:
The vice Chancellor will form an admission board for the program under the chairmanship of the Dean of the respective faculty. The concerned head of the department/Chairman and a senior faculty member nominated by the Dean will from the three (03)-member admission board for a period of two years.
a) To scrutinize applications received by the admission office of the University and prepare a list of names of the candidates who meet the minimum academic requirements, qualifications, etc. for admission.
b) To set question papers, arrange admission tests and evaluation of answer scripts for each test.
c) To prepare an publish lists of the successful candidates for admission into the University in order of merit after approval of the respective Dean/ Chairman.
d) To study credit transfer case and make appropriate recommendations in such case in accordance with relevant rules and regulations of the University.
Examination System:
a) One mid-term examination and one class test shall be held within each semester after the end of certain part of study of the Syllabus. The semester final examination shall be held at the end of 16 weeks of study of the semester.
b) After completion of the core and major courses the student concerned is to go for internship of three (03) credit hours (1.5 credit hours for theory and 1.5 credit hours for writing report).
c) Apart from the above, project work to be carried out under the supervision and direction of the course teacher.
Re-taking:
If any student secures F grade in any course or does not appear in any course in the mid-term or semester final examination he/ she will be treated as failed in that course. In that case, he/she is to re-take the course(s) with the following batch.
Class Attendance:
Students’ class attendance is regarded as an essential part of the course requirement. The expected class attendance is 90 percent. However a student shall not be allowed to sit for the examinations if his/her class attendance is below 80 percent for per semester.
Notes:
- The student concerned of either of the above noted MBA programs (60 credits, 48 credits or 36 credits) is to complete the respective core courses first.
- After completion of the core courses, the student concerned is to select either of the streams of major courses as noted above as major.
- Student interested to take more than one major is allowed after completion of one stream.
- The project work includes course work for 1.5 credits and report writing for 1.5 credits.
